Hello everyone!

Welcome to my page. My name is Tani, and I’m a history (though mostly Art History) geek. By day I’m an academic librarian— but even when I’m not working, I never stop my quest for research and knowledge through my hobbies.

I’ve been costuming for nearly 20 years, with a focus in historical costume construction for the past 15 years. I am an active reenactor across many periods of history– ancient to modern, though I find myself particularly enamored with the late middle ages through early modern period. I am an active member of the SCA where you may know me as Sibylla de Haze. Mundanely, my master’s degree background was focused in Rare Books and Visual Culture of the Early Modern Period, and I’ve worked in various museums & archives, so you can say that I am passionate about my historically-focused interests.

While I enjoy handicraft, handsewing, and constructing things according to the period; I am a firm believer in making things that make you happy. I enjoy using my sewing machine to take certain shortcuts despite it being a modern invention. Though whenever I have the energy, I try and hand-sew garments. Truthfully, wearing the finished product is what makes me the most happy; there is nothing quite like sliding on a garment and feeling yourself being transported back in time.

I hope that my blog can bring you happiness in your creative endeavors, and do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you may have!
